Would You Date a Taller Girl?
The age-old question often brought up in discussions about dating is whether a taller man would prefer to date a woman who is taller than him. This topic explores the experiences and insights from a tall man who has been in a relationship with a significantly taller woman and shares his thoughts on how height and size truly affect relationships.
My Personal Experience with a Taller Girl
I have dated and even married a taller woman, and my experience with it has been largely positive. My first serious relationship and ex of 15 years were both significantly shorter than 5 feet. Even my current wife, who stands at 6 feet 6 inches and is heavily built, makes me look small in comparison at 6 feet 2 inches and 205 pounds. Height and size were never a concern in our relationship—it wasn't until we moved apart that I realized how insignificant these factors were to me.
Met her on Saint Patrick's Day at a bar. She walked in and turned every head, she was 6 feet 6 inches tall and not by any means thin. She was what I would consider to be thick, but in a way that I find attractive. Her size significantly outweighed mine, but I never asked her weight. Our relationship was based on more than just physical attributes. Even after one date, the physical differences did not come into play; I was more focused on the attention she garnered from others and enjoyed seeing the reactions she created. She often wore around a 3-inch heel, and I supported her to indulge in her style.
Staying with her would have been ideal had my career move gone through, and I truly believe our relationship would have been perfect. Her family and character were exceptional, making her an ideal partner.
Height and Preferences in Dating
For a 5 feet 8 inches man like me, would I date a taller woman if given the chance? Yes, I would. It's not that I prefer to be with a woman shorter than me; instead, it's about the dynamics created by this height difference. Some men may feel intimidated by the height and size of a taller woman, leading them to assume they won't be a good match. However, this is not a universal rule.
Think about it: men often shy away from asking out taller women for fear of rejection. A 6 feet 1-inch woman might face similar fears, leading to an interesting dynamic when a 5 feet 8-inch man takes her on a date. It's not just about physical attraction; it's about the confidence it brings and the added value it conveys.
Height Dynamics in Relationships
Humans generally find some level of physical attraction towards other people, regardless of height. However, there seems to be less willingness for shorter men to date much taller women. The reason is often the fear of negative perceptions and the potential for judgment from others. A significant height difference can lead to feelings of inferiority and insecurity, both for the man and the woman.
For a taller woman, dating a shorter man might come with its own set of challenges. Many women resist dating men who are noticeably shorter, especially without any other appealing attributes. Heels can help level the playing field, but they cannot change the fundamental height difference. Some women may not have sufficient interest in such a relationship if other aspects of the man are not impressive.
Conversely, a shorter man dating a much taller woman can face the same challenges. He might feel undervalued and insecure, and her attention might be more towards other people. In such situations, the height difference can create a barrier to physical intimacy, although biological variety can enhance the experience. However, it is an arrangement that is less likely to fit well and might not be ideal for both partners.
