The Enduring Legacy of Social Justice Warriors

Will social justice warriors, or SJWs, exist forever? This is a question that has been posed by many as we approach the threshold of 2023. The answer, of course, depends on several factors, not the least of which is the persistence of social injustice. But before we dive into that, let's take a moment to reflect on what these warriors represent and why they are so crucial to our society.

Do We Still Need Them?

The timeline to 2023 is indeed tight, with only three months and a few days remaining. However, this urgency does not necessarily mean the end of the need for social justice warriors. In fact, their presence is more critical than ever. Without individuals dedicated to fighting for a better world, we might indeed see the decline of our societal progress.

II

Evolution of Ideals and Realism

Many of these warriors started as idealists in their younger years, envisioning a world where social justice was the norm. As they grew older, many of them realized that changing the world was a far more complex and challenging task than they had anticipated. However, this does not diminish their importance. The idea that they are merely “pipedreams” is a misunderstanding of the sustained effort and dedication required for meaningful change.

But ultimately, the existence of social justice warriors is not contingent on the individual; it is about the collective. As long as there are two people with differing opinions, the need for those who advocate for change will persist.

The Future of Social Justice Warrior Types

While it is unlikely that the specific type of social justice warrior we see today will continue to exist, some form of these warriors will certainly persist as long as society does. The spirit of fighting for justice and equality cannot be easily extinguished.

The Fight Against Social Injustice

Until we can create a world where social justice warriors are no longer needed, it is vital that they continue to stand up for those who face wilful ignorance and irrational hate. These are often the groups and individuals who are forced to adhere to outdated definitions and stereotypes because of their unique identities. The task is both arduous and necessary.

Our society is rife with bigots, haters, QAnon theorists, and exhibitionistic trolls. They exist in significant numbers, and if we are to move forward, we must stand firm against them. But perhaps the biggest challenge is the internal battle within ourselves. We must recognize that the antagonist is not an external force, but often a reflection of our own biases and attitudes.

A Call to Action

The future is in our hands. We must strive to be the change we wish to see in the world. This means continuously educating ourselves, challenging our biases, and supporting those who face discrimination and injustice. It is a collective effort, and every voice matters. Let us hope that one day, the world will become a place where social justice warriors are no longer needed. Until then, we must continue to fight for a better future for all.
