The Security Breach During PM Modi’s Visit: Did Punjab’s Top Officials Have An Inkling of What Was Coming?

No one from the top administration in Punjab had any inkling of the dramatic security situation that unfolded during PM Modi's visit, and they were confident that nothing of interest was going to happen to him. The Chief Secretary and DIG State Police, who are supposed to accompany the Prime Minister during his visit, did not show up. Their vehicles were part of the PM's convoy, but they were nowhere to be seen.

The Absence of Key Personnel

When the convoy of PM Modi got stuck on a flyover, CM Channi did not respond to the SOS calls made by the SPG (State Police Group).

High officials like the Chief Secretary of Punjab State Government and the DGP Punjab State Police, despite their duties and responsibilities, were following the political dictates of their superiors in the state government. The Chief Minister, Home Minister, and the so-called "high commands" of the Congress party, including Rahul, Priyanka, and Sonia, all played a role in stopping PM Modi from holding a rally in Ferozepur. The consequences for these individuals and their political masters will be serious.

Political Differences and National Security

There is a fundamental issue here: while political differences are understandable, they cannot compromise national security. This is not an ordinary security breach. It was clearly intended to prevent PM Modi from attending the rally. There were other possibilities, such as the proximity to the Pakistan border (just 10km away), that should have been considered before planning the event.

The Consequences and Responsibilities

Whenever high-level individuals are on the road, there is always a possibility of security breaches, especially from those trained for VIP assassination. Although PM Modi came out safely, he was in a very risky situation. The enemies they face are often trained to prioritize assassination over their own safety, making their actions aggressive and unthinking.

Security was not properly enforced during his journey, and Modi’s convoy was blocked for about 15-20 minutes. During this time, many bad moves could have been made. The failure of Punjab’s state government in this matter is evident, and a thorough investigation must be conducted to identify the responsible parties.

Irrespective of which party the individual belongs to, they should have realized the grave importance of ensuring the safety of the Prime Minister. Such a breach could have led to his assassination, which is why PM Modi issued a statement regarding CM Channi's absence and the security situation.
