How to Use the Link Sticker on Instagram: A Comprehensive Guide
Instagram has introduced a feature that allows users to add interactive elements to their stories, enhancing user engagement and providing a direct call to action. One of the most potent tools within Instagram's feature set is the Link Sticker, which enables users to link back to external websites or specific pages within their profile. This article will walk you through how to access and use the Link Sticker effectively on Instagram.
Accessing the Link Sticker
To access the Link Sticker, follow these steps:
Open the Instagram app on your device.
Tap on your profile picture or the camera icon to start a new story.
Capture a new photo or video, or upload one from your device.
Tap on the sticker icon with a smiley face at the top of the screen.
Choose the “Link” sticker from the options shown.

Using the Link Sticker
The Link Sticker not only provides a means to add external links but also enhances user engagement. Here’s how you can maximize its potential:
Engagement
Encourage your viewers to tap on the Link Sticker to explore the linked content. You can prompt them verbally in your video or through text overlays to increase interaction.
Tracking
For performance tracking, consider using URL shorteners or analytics tools that help you monitor click-through rates. These tools provide insights into which links are most effective in driving traffic back to your website, promoting products, or sharing important information.
Important Notes
Eligibility
As of the latest updates, the eligibility requirements for using the Link Sticker have been relaxed. Previously, users needed to have a verified business account with over 10,000 followers to use the swipe-up feature. Now, all users can add links to their stories without these restrictions. However, if you want your links to be publicly accessible and visible, ensure your account is set to public.
Visibility
For your links to be accessible to a broader audience, make sure your account settings are set to public. Additionally, you might want to consider cross-promotion through other platforms or within your stories to increase visibility and engagement.
Adding Links to Instagram Stories
Another method to add links to your Instagram stories is through the Swipe Up feature. This feature is now accessible to all users without the need for a verified account or a large follower base. Here are the steps:
Go to the main screen of your Instagram app and tap on “Stories”.
Select the profile from which you want to add a link.
Add a photo or video to your story.
Hit the paperclip icon located at the top right corner of your screen.
Add your URL here.
The status of your sticker will change from 'Paperclip' to 'Swipe Up'
When you share the story, it will show a message that says “Swipe Up”.
By using the Link Sticker effectively, you can drive traffic to your website, promote products, or share important information with your audience. Keep in mind that continuous testing and optimization of your links can help you achieve better engagement and results.
