How to Reset Pinterest Preferences and Improve Your Feed
If you accidentally cause Pinterest to stop showing you images you actually want to see, don’t panic! There are several steps you can take to reset your preferences and improve the content in your feed. Follow these guidelines, and you’ll be on your way to enjoying a more tailored and interesting experience on Pinterest.
Clear Your Search History
To start, clear your search history, as it may be affecting your feed.
Go to your profile and click on the three dots “More” in the top right corner. Select “Manage Your Data”. Choose to “Clear Search History”.Adjust Your Home Feed Preferences
To further adjust your preferences, follow these steps:
In your profile, go to your “Settings”. Select “Customize settings”. Review and adjust your feed settings to better reflect your interests.Engage with Content
Actively engage with content that matches your interests to help refine the recommendations on Pinterest.
Like, save, or comment on pins that align with what you want to see more of. This engagement will help the algorithm better understand your preferences.Follow Relevant Accounts and Boards
To diversify your feed with content you enjoy, follow relevant accounts and boards.
Find and follow accounts or boards that align with your interests. This will introduce you to new content and refine your feed over time.Use the “See More” Option
When you see pins you like, click on them and use the “See More” option to discover similar content.
This will help refine your feed and show you more relevant pins in the future.Check Your Blocked Accounts
Ensure you haven’t accidentally blocked accounts or topics that might be relevant to your interests.
Go to your profile and click on the three dots “More” in the top right corner. Select “Blocked Accounts” and check if you need to unblock any.Log Out and Log Back In
A simple log out and log back in can refresh your feed and reset any temporary issues.
Click on the three dots “More” in the top right corner. Choose “Log Out”. After logging out, log back in to refresh your feed.Consider Creating New Boards
Create new boards for specific interests and start pinning content. This can help Pinterest better understand your preferences.
Click on the “Create a board” button. Choose a topic or category that interests you. Add pins to the board and continue to engage with the content.By following these steps, you should be able to guide Pinterest back toward showing you the images and content you want to see. If you have encountered issues specifically with 'Picked for You Pins,' you can turn these on or off in the settings. However, if you are seeing the option to “Hide / See fewer Pins like this”, by actively searching for and liking pins that align with your interests, you can ‘teach’ Pinterest about your actual preferences.
Remember to UNfollow people or boards that do not match your interests and FOLLOW those that do. This will ensure your feed remains relevant and enjoyable.
