The Road to Success: My Personal Story
My journey towards self-determination and success was marked by struggles and fear. The shackles of societal expectations and the security of a stable job were too confining. I had to confront and conquer five fears to break free: The fear of losing the safety net of society that I had known The fear of financial instability following my departure from my job The fear of public judgment for my impulsive actions The fear of the unknown future The fear of self-reliance and independenceHowever, I had already developed a version of the Mind Walking system, which helped me to manage these fears by imagining less threatening outcomes. It provided a sense of control over the situation and empowered me to focus on positive possibilities. Additionally, I needed a wise friend to share my journey with, a confidant who would support and guide me. My imagination provided the perfect ally – my Buddha Buddy, my meditation partner who helped me stay focused and brave.
Creating a Vision for My Life
To create a clear vision, I divided my fears and dreams into separate categories, enabling me to address and overcome each one methodically. Here are the key visions that guided my life: Profession: I envisioned becoming a coach of self-improvement, communication, and leadership to achieve a high-quality life. Personal Identity: I aimed to be independent in my thinking and behavior, respected as an expert, and earning a suitable salary. Independence: I aspired to live independently, without external control, and build a happy family life in a desirable environment. Pleasure and Fulfillment: My goal was to spend most of my time doing things that pleased me without external influence. These visions were not mere fantasies; they were concrete goals that drove me forward. To turn these visions into reality, I had to face fear head-on. I embraced a mantra by former US President Teddy Roosevelt: "I have been afraid, but I made myself as though I were not afraid, and very soon the fear went away." This helped me to face my fears with determination and courage.
