Why I Criticize Yogi Adityanath

As I am not a resident of Uttar Pradesh (UP), my primary concerns lie in national affairs rather than state-specific matters. However, the actions of the UP government have national repercussions, especially regarding employment generation, religious affairs, and broader political implications.

The Significance of UP in Indian Politics

UP, the largest state in India, elects 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha, making it a crucial player in national politics. Given its size and population, any significant development or lack thereof in UP has far-reaching implications for the nation. Particularly, issues related to employment, religious harmony, and political discourse can affect the entire country.

Employment Creation and Economic Well-being

A state like UP with a massive population should prioritize job creation to ensure self-sufficiency. If it remains net-negative in employment generation, it poses a significant challenge to the country's economic stability. Moreover, if UP fails to focus on creating employment opportunities, it can lead to an influx problem, affecting local employment in other states, thus necessitating a broader national concern.

Religious Polarization and Hindustan Ideology

The UP government's increasing emphasis on religious affairs, particularly the imposition of Hindustan as a place for Hindi-speaking individuals, is a cause for concern. Government ministers like Sanjay Nishad have made statements that people who don't speak Hindi should leave India, which reflects a dangerous trend of religious and linguistic polarization. It is important to note that Hindi is one of the 22 scheduled languages in India and is not our national language. The government and political leaders have the responsibility to promote unity and respect for all regional languages.

The declaration that the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will be the national temple is a contentious issue. While Yogi Adityanath can declare Ram Mandir as the state temple, the national status is where the issue lies. Such a claim is seen as subjugation of other major temples and their believers, which is unacceptable. The decision should be taken by the nation as a whole, not by any individual or state government. It is crucial to recognize the sanctity and diversity of religious beliefs across India.

Uttar Pradesh's Infrastructure and Economic Development

This has led to widespread criticism, as in the case of a misleading advertisement in a national daily. The ad showed a flyover in Kolkata, misleadingly representing it as an achievement in UP. This misuse of resources for public relations purposes is not only dishonest but also distracts from genuine efforts to improve the state's infrastructure.

The NITI Aayog and RBI reports highlight the poor health and economic conditions in UP, which are deeply concerning. Unless these issues are addressed, UP's economic and social development could remain hindered, affecting the entire nation.

The UP government's handling of sensitive cases, such as the Hathras gang rape and subsequent filing of sedition cases, raises serious human rights concerns. Such actions do not only affect the victims and their families but also poison the political discourse, leading to a toxic environment of hate and polarization.
