Brexit Partys Futile Quest for Political Clout Amidst Brexit Uncertainty
When Brexit Finally Happens, Will the Current Members of the Brexit Party Mostly Fall in Line with the Conservatives?
Fat chance. It would be a mistake to assume that Farage’s allies are principled individuals acting in what they believe is the public interest.
If Brexit ever happens, the Brexit Party will just start campaigning on the grounds that the Tories were too soft to do it properly. They will never stop trying to drag British politics further and further rightwards. This sentiment underscores the notion that their objectives likely transcend the actual outcome of Brexit.
The Current Political Landscape
You are assuming that Brexit will actually happen. But this is now unlikely since Parliament and the population as a whole can see more and more clearly through the web of lies on which Brexit was foisted on an unsuspecting public. The culmination of this web of lies is of course the extraordinary attempt by Boris Johnson (BJ) to suspend Parliament to get through Brexit, which he has mendaciously claimed was to restore the very Parliament he is now seeking to silence. The man is a monster and a fool, and his folly may ultimately be the downfall of Brexit.
Political Maneuvering and the Brexit Party's Position
Fall in line with the Conservatives will make no difference. They are MEPs, they have no seat in the UK and no known constituents as UK MPs or politicians. They are MEPs, which means they have no legislative power in the UK. In other words, they are ordinary trade/treaty representatives, subject to HM’s commerce and EU trade secretary. They are not even seen as ambassadors for HM’s overseas trade section.
To make a difference and to help give Boris Johnson the majority he needs, which is most unlikely as too many Conservative MO's are Remainers, the Brexit party as a group will have to either:
Drop their Euro stance, adopt a UK political party charter, then field candidates in all UK constituencies as a political entity. Refer to themselves as a political chapter or an ex-EU wing of the Conservative party now coming home to register to be able to participate in UK elections. Embark on the tough task of finding seats to win in areas like Oxford, Cambridge, Reading, Bristol, London, and the rest of the south east. These moves would require a significant political shift and a strategic realignment. However, the likelihood of these actions being effective is overshadowed by the current political landscape and public sentiment against Brexit.
Conclusion
The Brexit Party's journey towards political clout is fraught with challenges. Their objectives and methods are suspect, and their path forward is obstructed by the prevailing sentiment and political realities. As Brexit's uncertainty continues, their efforts to align with the Conservatives are likely to face numerous obstacles.
