Are Trump's Supporters United by Shared Values or a Blind Faith in His Persona?
Often, the reasoning behind political support is more complex than merely an alignment of values or policies. This article explores whether voters who supported Donald Trump and still do so today are united by shared values, or if their support stems more from a blind faith in his persona and rhetoric.
The Bully vs. Values
Sometimes, I wonder if people who support Trump and continue to do so understand bullying and its impact much better than sociology, economics, science, or diplomacy. In most cases, however, I believe his supporters are enamored with a fantasy rather than the candidate himself.
My Personal Values and Perspective
If you're asking if my values align with those expressed by Trump or the values attributed to him by others, my political views align with the majority of his positions. I find his family and personal values to be separate from my own, and if he has indeed engaged in all the alleged activities, I would not support him as a person. But in the realm of policy, I align with him.

For instance:
Trump is a millionaire playboy, but I have never been.
Trump is from New York, but I am not.
Trump tweets a lot, but I don't tweet or follow any news.
Trump craves attention and controversy, but I prefer peace and quiet.
Thankfully, Trump doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs; I share that sentiment.
Trump is against the corrupt Washington establishment, and I agree.
Trump is frustrated with the MSM (Mainstream Media), and so am I.
Trump is against illegal immigration, and I support that stance.
Trump is outspoken, but I'm less vocal. I appreciate hearing his questions and concerns.
So, in summary, I might agree with Trump on a few issues, but not in all aspects. I admire some of his rhetoric and actions but not others.
Supporters and Shared Views
Many people vote for someone because they share a single dominant issue, or they find the other party repulsive on multiple levels. Trump's supporters often gravitate to him due to one or more of his key policy positions or he represents something they find repelling in the opposing party.

A commenter once said: 'No !!! Voted for POLICY Not his prowess… He's ALWAYS been a NYC Billioanire Playboy!!! Nothing changed… People get caught up with his persona!!! He’s doing what I HIRED him to do!!! Love it!!!' This highlights the belief that Trump's success is a result of his values and policy positions rather than his personality.
Conclusion
The reasons behind political support are multifaceted. While some supporters align with Trump based on shared values or beliefs, others might be more influenced by a positive view of his persona and achievements. Ultimately, it's an individual choice, and everyone has their own reasons for backing a particular candidate.
